Fight for Dominance

Will update with an actual short story later, don't really have the time nor the energy now so you get the summarized version. 




After seeing how Chrysalis ran her hive he quickly deemed her too weak and her efforts to rebuild the hive too ineffective. 
This lead to him ultimately challanging her for dominance over the hive (a tradition the changelings have to make sure only the strongest can rule) No magic allowed only brute force. One cannot decline one of these challanges as that may lead to losing the respect of your followers, so of course Chrysalis accepted. 

Angel had the upper hand from the start and Chrysalis quickly knew she wasn't going to make it out alive if she didn't think of something and fast. 

Part of typical changeling magic is that they have some mind altering and min reading abilities. This makes them able to immitate creatures that their prey is familiar with. (like say one was chasing a foal and could look into their mind and see how their mother looks and take her form to lure them) 
Chrysalis used her powers to dig up an old buried memory of Fluttershy (angel's adoptive mother) 

This stops Angel in his tracks as it triggered something within him that made him hesitate. 
Swift to take advantage to this Chrysalis kicked him in the jaw and fled far away from the hive. 

Enraged Angel vowed to come after her and to make it his top priority to overtake the pony lands. Changelings would rise to the top and none of his factured and distracting memory would be left.
